Roger's career in high performance engine building began in 1970. Roger started at the Speed and Sport Center in Staunton, Virginia, employed by Howard Lickliter. Roger began to learn the techniques of balancing, blue printing, cylinder head porting and polishing, and engineering ways to make more horsepower. While at Speed and Sport, Roger worked closely with IHRA Pro-Stock World Champion Lee Edwards. Roger did the head porting and polishing, crankshaft balancing, and block work for Lee's Mountain Motor Pro-Stock cars and his other big block Chevrolet customers. In 1980, Roger worked at Lee's shop in Calverton, Virginia. Roger credits allot of his success to his years of friendship and learning under and with Lee Edwards, the pioneer of the big block Chevrolet Mountain Motors.

Roger also pursued his own successful racing career in the early 1970s with a D/Modified Production 1962 330 cubic inch Corvette, pictured below. This car ran below the IHRA National Record.

From 1975 to 1982, Roger became interested in Dirt Track Racing. Roger built large cubic Chevy motors for Tommy Bare, car pictured below. During those years, Roger and Tommy were the most successful race team in the Shenandoah Valley. The duo won races at Eastside Speedway, Madison, NC., Saluda, VA., and Hagerstown, MD. Roger also built engines for a number of other dirt track racers.

In 1984, Roger decided to go into business for himself. Roger has built 100s of racing engines, ranging from small block engines too 600+ cubic inch Ford and Chevrolet Mountain Motors. From 1984 until the present, Roger has continued to build high performance motors for bracket cars, dirt track cars, and street rods.
